2010 Tournament Sports Schedule
After perhaps it’s best year in softball, Tournament Sports is again expanding the ASA
program. In 2010, along with Flagstaff, Cottonwood, Yuma, Prescott and Gilbert,
Tucson Sportspark has elected to sanction ASA. Please support Bob Navarro and his
tournament program. Look for the Tucson ASA Tournament Schedule on our web site.
In response to this overall state growth and to encourage team participation in other areas,
Tournament Sports will be limiting the number of teams that can play in most of it’s 2010
tournaments. Beginning in 2010 all teams must put down a $100 deposit to ensure their
registration into all tournaments. Managers, make sure to register your team early for
tournaments that you want to enter.
Again in 2010, Tournament Sports, in partnership with Victory Lane, Worth and Crown
Imports, will hold the Hispanic & Minority Championships on October 8-10 at Victory
Lane, Festival and Desert West Parks. Last year this tournament drew 119 teams and
featured custom rings as awards. The Championships have expanded the minority
requirements to allow for 6 “nons” in the lineup for the Men’s Divisions and to allow
ALL Coed and Women’s teams.
The Triple Grand Slam Series, the original MONEY tournament, will be back with 4 legs
in 2010. Mark your calendar for these tournaments because they always fill up early.
Leg I of the Triple Grand Slam is on March 6 & 7 at Victory Lane and Desert West
parks.
ASA Arizona State Director, Don Fishel has been awarded the C National in Prescott,
Arizona over Labor Day. Tournament Sports will be holding many World Qualifying
tournaments for this event to qualify as many Arizona teams as possible. Let’s send an
Arizona team to Oklahoma in 2010.
Tournament Sports will continue the Loyalty Discount Program that rewards teams that
play many times during the year. Teams will get a $100 discount for their 7th tournament
OR a FREE entry on their 13th tournament.
Also this year Tournament Sports will offer a series of DOUBLE DOUBLE Tournament
Specials. In the Double Double there will be two separate tournaments on Saturday and
Sunday on one weekend. Teams can elect to play one or both tournaments. The Sunday
tournament will feature a reduced entry fee.
In an effort to stem the use of altered bats, Tournament Sports will purchase a bat tester
for use at one site at every tournament.
Finally, Terri Seimer who joined our director team last year will be the new Coed contact
for all Coed Teams. Please give Terri a call at 602-573-3853 for any questions or
tournament information.
If you have an interest in our tournament softball program, please stop by the director’s
table or call or e-mail. We are always looking for good people.
