On August 1, sixty-two teams from throughout Arizona converged on Victory Lane and Rio Vista to compete in the 2004 NSA HISPANIC STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Teams were evenly divided from different parts of Arizona with 13 Tucson teams, 4 Yuma teams and teams from Flagstaff, Bisbee, Rio Rico, Gila Bend, Marana and Somerton rounding out the field.

Terror Squad, coached by Jay Escobar, took the 19 team C/DI Division beating out Art Samora's tough Team Coalition who forced the If game on Sunday. Kongs, from Yuma, lost their first game on Saturday then won six straight games to take third place over Chad Carpenter's Hit 'em Up who placed fourth.

The D2 bracket was won by Unique, a Tucson team coached by Frank Coronado, that went undefeated beating Larry Navarro's City Boyz 11 - 10 in the Championship game. Two Yuma teams finished third and fourth. Team Chunky finished third while Rudy Molina's Crush Pacesetter team finished fourth.

J. C. Salazar's, One Time from Somerton defeated Art Gaspar's AZ Premier in the IF game for the championship in the E Division. Infamous, coached by Brian Smith finished in third place over the Jaguars, coached by Thomas Leale who finished fourth.

Newcomer, Sanchas, coached by Annette Apodaca, won the Women's division with a 3-1 record over Andrea Flores', Bad Habits team that finished in second place.

NSA State Hispanic Director, David Duran said, "The men's divisions were really evenly matched. Two of the three divisions went to the If game and one run decided the D2 division. This was one of the closest tournaments this year. Every team had a chance to win."

All participating teams qualified for the 2004 NSA WORLD HISPANIC on October 22-24 at Tucson Sportspark. The WORLD HISPANIC will feature a Homerun Challenge and Team Social on Friday, October 22. All first place teams will receive World Hispanic Championship Rings. Teams from California, Texas, New Mexico, Washington and Indiana have already entered the tournament.

NSA/Tournament Sports would like to thank Hispanic World sponsor WORTH SPORTS and it's home field, VICTORY LANE SPORTS COMPLEX, for their dedication to customer service and the game of NSA Softball. Thanks also to all the teams that competed in the NSA HISPANIC STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. See you at the Worlds.
