
(55 teams qualify for World Hispanic)
Fifty plus teams from the Four Corners of Arizona converged on July 29th to play in the ASA COORS LIGHT HISPANIC STATE TOURNAMENT at Victory Lane Sports Park.
A break in the weather made for better than average temperatures, Corky Pellen from Miken Sports blew in in the Miken van to sponsor the annual MIKEN HOMERUN
CHALLENGE and COORs Light gave each team a pitcher of Coors Light and a cooler, bat bag or beer mug. It doesn't get much better that this.
Ernie Gonzales Red Dawgz team took the C Championship by double dipping Frank's Hydraulics. Madd Skillz, coached by Dan Galvez, finished in third.
The D Championship went to Francisco Cenento's Mesa Boys team over Down N Dirty, who came in Second. Third Place went to the Yuma team Eckstinkt coached by Dugan La Rose. MVP honors went to Kyle Karkose from Mesa Boys.
The 22 team E Division was won by the local team, Amigos, coached by Paul Rodriguez. Frankie Espinoza's Misioneros team finished in Second Place while One Time from Somerton took Third Place. Danny Star from Amigos was named as MVP.
No Drama won the Women's Division over newcomer No Mas coached by Laverne Rubio. 420 Hitters finished in Third Place over Not Wanted who took Fourth.
The Winners of the Miken Homerun Challenge were:
Ricky Jackowiak of Team Outkass in the D/E Division and
Jose Nunez of Team Salsa in the C Division.
ALL participating teams qualified for the ASA HISPANIC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS at Tucson Sportspark on October 20-22. All World Champions will receive custom designed rings for the first place award.
