Fifty- Six teams played in the Holiday Bowl, the 2006 ASA season opener, to start the ASA season off with a bang. The greatly improved teams of AZ High Voltage coached by Kurt Holland and Rick Bevington's Team Bohica took home the embroidered championship windshirts in the D Division. In the DII/E Division, Big Balls coached by Chris Coleman and Rick Armenta's Our Gang won the Championship honors. Stormy Weber's Women's Championships went to - Sis Bruce's Nacho Mama team in the Upper Division and to - Lady Falcons, newly coached by Keith Harrison in the Lower Division.
The second weekend of the Toy Drive, the WinterNationals, was played in absolutely perfect weather on December 10th at Victory Lane. In Exhibition Games only, Mike Duran's AZ Rapid/Yur Mama Rocks team won it's Division. Both Steve McGill's Team Chaos and Chris Tipton's Luke Teams dominated the D Division. A resurgent Los Diablos team coached by Gabe Medina and Jeff Marine's talented Jacked Up team won the DII Division. Tony Barrera's Yard Dogs of Phoenix took home the Wicked Batbags in the E Division. On Sunday, in an extremely competitive Coed Division, No Pride (formerly Stardust Hotels and Resorts) won the Championship trophy over Veronica Fettis' Mixed Nuts team. Every year Tournament Sports incorporates several benefit tournaments into their tournament schedule to "give back" some of the proceeds to worthwhile organizations. Tournament Sports will hold seven benefit tournaments this year. The benefit tournament list includes the December Toy Drive Tournaments, the LAF Benefit in January, the 21st year of the Presidential Benefit in February which benefits the Phoenix Park Foundation and the Kiwanis Klassic and Verde River Days tournaments which benefit local Cottonwood organizations. In addition, in 2006 ASA/Tournament Sports will add the Pat Tillman Foundation Benefit on April 22 & 23 at Victory Lane.
